Mayors' 'Climate Summit' in Seattle November 1-2

A hundred-plus mayors are expected to attend a mayors' "national climate protection summit" being billed as the largest meeting of U.S. mayors focusing solely on climate change.

With former President Bill Clinton scheduled to join, the group says it is "not willing to take action to help solve the threat of global warming." They hope a 10-point mayors' climate protection agreement, signed by more than 660 mayors, will help show the way.

Among big-city mayors expected to participate in the November meeting are those from Miami, Seattle, East Orange, N.J., Albuquerque, Providence, Oklahoma City, Des Moines, Chicago, Rochester, Sacramento, Honolulu, Detroit, Akron, Minneapolis, Tulsa, and Austin.
