Climate and ‘Increasingly Wild Weather’ Focus of June 6 Seminar

Stu Ostro of Weather Channel and Rutgers scientist Jennifer Francis to address June 6 Washington, D.C., presentation at World Wildlife Fund headquarters.

A prominent meteorologist from The Weather Channel and a high regarded Rutgers University climate researcher specializing in the Arctic will lead a June 6 one-hour World Wildlife Fund/Climate Desk presentation in Washington, D.C.

Weather Channel senior meteorologist Stu Ostro and Rutgers Professor Jennifer Francis are to address their conclusions that the impacts of the warming climate are affecting atmospheric circulation and the “topsy-turvy” weather patterns of the past few years.

“We don’t know — yet — what the next extreme manifestations of these large-scale changes in weather patterns will be,” the two host groups say in announcing the seminar, which is to be Webcast live. They warn that “we had better be getting ready for them — because this isn’t your grandparent’s Planet Earth any longer.”

The program — “Going to Extremes: The Alarming Science Behind Climate Change’s Increasingly Wild Weather” — is open to the public and will be held at WWF’s Washington, D.C., headquarters at 1250 24th Street, N.W., in Washington, beginning at 4:30 p.m. EDT. It is to be moderated by science writer Chris Mooney. Online registration is available at the WWF website.

Distinguished physicist Dr. William Happer: ‘The incredible list of supposed horrors that increasing carbon dioxide will bring the world is pure belief disguised as science’

So if a meteorologist is skeptical of AGW he’s ignored (or worse) because he’s not a climatologist, but if a meteorologist believes AGW, then it’s ok that he’s not a climatologist, his opinion still counts.

      • Stu Ostro says:

pinroot, thank you for your comment – I will include it in my presentation.

William Happer isn’t a climatologist nor is he a meteorologist. He isn’t even an esteemed scientist anymore since he is now on the record saying that the only limit to CO2 in our atmosphere should be the toxic levels for long termed exposure to humans as determined by the U.S. navy and NASA. He even has the gall to say that, since the earliest human primates survived when it was 10X higher than today we would be ok if CO2 went that high.

He works as a paid hack for the Marshall Institute which was founded by Frederick Seitz who was paid big money by the tobacco industry to put out faulty science to cloud the debate around the dangers of second hand smoking.

These people have no souls. If we ever get to the point where Happer says is “ok”, we will have 150 feet of sea level rise and global collapse of grain production leading to a loss of over half the human population. He gets paid to tell people that is “ok”.
