Climate Change Reporting Workshop In October at Ohio State for 20 Journalists

Some 20 “top journalists” have a shot at a three-day immersion into climate change, sea level rise, and related agricultural and forestry issues through an October 12-14 program at Ohio State University underwritten by the McCormick Foundation.

With lodging, meals, and a travel allowance provided by the foundation, journalists will learn from world-famous paleoclimatologist Lonnie Thompson, of Ohio State, and others. Journalists will have a first-hand visit to the highly regarded Byrd Polar Research Center and its vast collection of preserved ice cores.

Along with Thompson, additional faculty are to include UCLS geographer Laurence Smith, New Scientist correspondent Fred Pearce, and Ohio State economist Andrew Keeler.

Applications are due by September 8, and information about the conference is available at OSU’s website.
