AAAS Meeting Set For February 14-18 in Boston

Reporters planning to cover the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) February 14-18 in Boston can register online now for press passes.

“Science and Technology from a Global Perspective” is the catch-all title for the meeting, which annually attracts leading climate, atmospheric, oceanography and other specialized scientists from around the country and scores of foreign countries.

Ocean acidification, global warming and “predatory invasion of the Antarctic Seas,” and interactions between climate change and microbial activity are among the titles of some of the more than 150 symposia and lectures. Among other symposia likely to touch closely on climate change issues are sessions dealing with the ecology and evolution of corals and with biofuels and clean energy and sustainability.

The AAAS meetings generally are quite liberal on issuing complimentary media registrations, and freelancers and web journalists are no less welcome than reporters from leading print and broadcast news outlets. To learn more about required credentials, visit the registration area of the website and look for the “Members of the Press” link.
